Indian Street Food Wedding Catering — The Fun Food
The most-loved part of any Indian wedding is the chaat — the street food: pani puri, papdi chaat, aloo tikki, pav bhaji, vada pav, dosa. It is interactive, eaten with hands, served fresh, and brings out the best memories of growing up in India. We run authentic street food stations at weddings across Mexico with chefs who learned these dishes in the streets they come from.
The Chaat Counter
Pani puri (with three waters: sweet, spicy, jeera), sev puri, papdi chaat, dahi puri, bhel puri, aloo tikki chaat, samosa chaat, ragda pattice, dahi vada, dabeli, vada pav, pav bhaji. All built fresh per order — no pre-assembled chaat sitting in trays. The chef behind the counter assembles each plate as guests order, with proper layering and final tempering.
The Dosa Station
Live dosa griddle with masala dosa, plain dosa, rava dosa, mysore masala, paper dosa, uttapam. Coconut chutney, tomato chutney, coriander chutney, sambar — all on the counter. The dosa station is one of the most popular at any Indian wedding because most non-Indian guests have never seen dosa being made live. The thin batter spread, the crackle, the flip — it is dinner theater.
When Street Food Stations Work Best
Cocktail hour, sangeet, mehndi — events where guests are circulating and eating standing up. Also late-night refuel after the dancing has emptied the dance floor. Street food stations work less well as the only meal at a formal sit-down reception, but they pair beautifully alongside the main buffet or plated service as a "fun food" supplement.
